   Hannah Welker "H"  #47

San Jose Thunder suffered a tragic loss on Sunday July 20, 2008 when we lost our beloved Hannah Welker, "H" as she is known. Hannah was involved in an accident on Interstate I-5 coming home from a soccer tournament in Irvine, CA. She was riding with her mother Heidi and older sister Sarah. Hannah was only 12 years old when she passed.

The poem below was created by Thunder players in memory of Hannah....

“H” – “Pony” #47 1/3
10/12/95 – 7/20/08

Dedication, determination, attitude, and pride,
Never leaving a teammate’s side.

“Stay on your toes” and do your best,
She never expected or gave anything less.

She had it all and didn’t even try,
And would never want to see a teammate cry.

Always smiling, expecting success,
Didn’t allow anyone to “mess with the best”.

She was loved by all and will be in our hearts,
Whenever the ref blows the whistle to start.

Drive, accomplishment, her love of the game,
Would be lost if you gave up this sport in her name.

Soccer wasn’t just a sport to her, Hannah bled green and black,
And when God called out to her, she didn’t look back.

Her spirit will live on through us playing the game,
She loved more than life so don’t be afraid,

To continue what she started out on the field,
Our Pony “H” is riding in heaven, protected by Thunder’s shield.

You will be terribly missed “H” but not forgotten.

We love you,

Your Thunder Family
